History

The ski area’s rich history dates back to 1954 when Chuck Stone and his wife Nancy persuaded a property owner to give them a 25-year lease on a plot of land. They started with $3,700 and built a small ski chalet, complete with a lunch counter and rental equipment.

Buck Hill offers 15 different runs to skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. It has 11 lifts, including two quads and a triple chairlift. It also has one of the best snowmaking systems in the Midwest, enabling it to operate even when Old Man Winter does not cooperate. Additionally, visitors can try snow tubing where they jump on a specially designed tube and slide down to the bottom. This is a new craze at Buck Hill and is great fun for children.
