Canoeing and Kayaking
One of the largest parks in the Dakota County park system, Lebanon Hills offers a huge array of outdoor activities. With 14 miles of summer hiking trails and 12 miles of winter ski trails, it’s the perfect place for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, fishing, and even camping.
You’ll want to start at Schulze Lake if you’re looking for a relaxing day of kayaking or canoeing. You can rent a kayak or canoe from the Visitor’s Center for $8 an hour and $35 a day.
For something more adventurous, try a kayaking trip down Minnehaha Creek, which flows 22 miles from Lake Minnetonka to Lake Nokomis. This full-day or half-day trip is an excellent way to see the city skyline and some of the best parks in Minneapolis.
Horseback Riding
Lebanon Hills Regional Park in Eagan MN offers a variety of horseback riding opportunities. The 2,000-acre park provides 9.7 miles of naturally surfaced equestrian trails. A daily ($5) or season ($30) trail pass is required for riders 18 years and older.
The park features a diverse landscape with steep irregular hills and pockets of lakes and wetlands. This land has been largely untouched by development and has maintained a mix of woodland, prairie, and restored savanna.

Fishing
Lebanon Hills is an excellent place for ice fishing in winter or shore fishing in the summer. Holland and McDonough’s lakes are listed as “FiN” (Fishing in the Neighborhood) by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, making them ideal for beginning anglers.
In addition to trout and other fish, Lebanon Hills Regional Park has a large variety of other wildlife and plant species. During the summer, visitors can hike on many of the park’s trails or visit the visitor center for information about wildlife and outdoor programs.
